So the Caribbean Group of Youth Business Trusts is creating a culture of entrepreneurship in the Caribbean that is pioneering, innovative and refreshing.  I am excited to see what is happening in the region with entrepreneurship, even more excited to see the focus on youth entrepreneurship now.  I met the CARICOM Secretary General last week in Jamaica quite by chance.  I was sitting at a table and heard my name being called behind me, only to look around and notice that some young people who I know and have worked with in partnership with CARICOM, were sitting there with the SG and were telling him about my work in the region.  Needless to say I was introduced and I am elated that the SG is taking a serious interest in youth development and non-traditional employability strategies such as ...you guessed it...youth entrepreneurship...

Creating a culture is long term, but with all the partners we have made over the 16 years of practical implementation, I have seen a tremendous shift in mindsets and behaviours towards accepting making your own jobs and providing jobs for others.  We have more work to do but I am convinced we will get there.  Where is there? top of the food chain, with entrepreneurship among the elites of career choices in the region!

Now the Caribbean Centre of Excellence for Youth Entrepreneurship is formalized.  Big things are in store...Youth entrepreneurship development is topping the charts...we are grateful for joint partners including IDB, cibcFirstCaribbean, CDB, USAID, Citicorp, UN, Esso, Peter Moores Foundation, and many others...keep supporting us guys as we help young people to become productive individuals, with decent jobs..
