Caribbean Week of Agriculture 2012. Young farmers or agripreneurs as Diana Francis of IICA coined a few years ago, we discussed issues of entrepreneurship, leadership, sustainability, facilitation, opportunities, valorising, rural development and succession planning among others. Amazingly the issue of food imports and the high cost of bringing food into our countries from outside the region is still a challenge. Caribbean people can we please find a strategy which will have us finding key crops for export and planting those and planting food for our own national food security and regional as well. We must think about feeding ourselves in the region and not rely on others to think about it for us. We are smart, creative people and we know what to do. let's continue to make passion our political will and find ways to make sure we keep agriculture high on the agenda. We cannot allow anyone to plan our agendas for us, we have to do it ourselves.
